Sam At Daycare
(Had to add the email from your dad I got shortly after posting these pictures - just made me smile - mostly the part about making his eyes water - ha ha)
Hey love!
I just looked at the Blog and you beat me to it again! That pic of Sam is so so cute!
He exploded after you left this morning, literally. Wet the bed bad and exploded into the PJ’s. The smell still makes my eyes water! All smiles of course!!
Otherwise…off and running here. Thanks for a productive/ fun evening with my 2 loves!
Muah!

Sam is ON THE MOVE!!!!!
Sam is officially in love with his Scooter (as I call it) and he can now get around the entire house pretty much in it - not gracefully, mind you! He looks like he is SUI - Scooting Under the Influence - as he continually hits furniture, walls, and people (!) and has to maneuver - flip flops and barefeet are not safe in this house anymore! Yesterday, only a couple minutes after I put him in the scooter, I heard noises and turned to see Sam already in this predicament!!! It only got worse as Mr. Monks got into the fray as well!
Sam has been using the scooter for a couple months, and for awhile was able to scoot backwards, but that was it. All of a sudden this week, he is forward - backward - sideways - and mobile!!! He actually stands up and runs in it and will follow us around the house or look for ANYTHING to grab - one of his favorites is the dishtowel on the oven which I replace up to 10 times a night! If we call him from the other room, we hear him squealing and bumping walls and furniture until he makes his way back to us - it's very cute!
We have been greatly entertained by Sam the last few nights... greatly - here are some of his Scooter moments and a blooper! Note we use Mr. Monks as bait when we REALLY want to motivate him! Mr. Monks rates higher in this house than mom or dad!
And... one blooper! I could post quite a few more, but we'll stop here!
Sam brings so much JOY and LAUGHTER into our house on a DAILY basis!!!!

Biking Season
![]() |
Pre-Ride Pep talk from mom |
It was a beautiful day and DAD insisted on a family bike ride around Lake Calhoun. It was the maiden voyage in the BURLEY! Sam seemed to enjoy it - we need to find a little better way to situate him as he is still kind of little for it, but we improvised and used Mr. Monks to support him! He actually enjoyed watching the people and did well - Many more rides to come.
Who's having more FUN - Sam or Dad?
Sam is a seasoned Pro - note the use of Mr. Monks to keep him upright!

Samuel Henry Backstrom - Dedication Sunday
"Samuel Henry Backstrom, together with your parents who love you dearly and this people who care about the outcome of your faith, I dedicate you to God, surrendering together with them all worldly claim upon your life in the hope that you will belong wholly to Jesus Christ, forever."
1. We recognize, you, Samuel, as a gift from God and give heartfelt thanks for you, a blessing from God.
2. We dedicate you, Samuel, to the Lord who gave you to us, surrendering all worldly claims upon your life in the hope that you will belong wholly to Jesus Christ.
3. We pledge as parents that, with God's fatherly help, we will bring you up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, making every reasonable effort, with patience and love, to build the Word of God, the character of Christ and the joy of the Lord into your life.
4. We promise to provide, through God's blessing, for the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of you, Samuel, looking to our own Heavenly Father for the wisdom, love, and strength to serve you and not use you.
5. We promise, God helping us, to make it our regular prayer that by God's grace, you will come to trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins and for the fulfillment of all his promises to you, even eternal life; and in this faith follow Jesus as Lord and obey his teachings.
After church, we had a wonderful Lunch at Grandpa and Grandma Backstroms with a lot of the family and had a wonderful celebration!

We have TEETH!
Yesterday, I finally spotted two little bottom teeth in Sam's mouth - we'll try to get a picture soon but hard to even see them! I was so excited which got Sam so excited - although I'm sure he had no idea what about!!
This weekend is my first real Mothers Day :) I'm very excited and I love Sam's Daycare picture this month! I do think Sam is awesome and being a mom is the greatest, most rewarding thing ever!

Sam-Man
Sam is finally a huge fan of solid foods and is eating 3 meals a day plus bottles. He even is partial to vegetables vs fruits, which is not what I expected! The one thing he loves to do while eating is rock his mini table highchair - which is obviously a problem for safety reasons - so his days of eating table top are coming to an end as we'll have to secure to a chair.
Sam is also a good sleeper now for the most part - he goes to bed anywhere from 6:30 to 7:30 and will wake up 1-2 times a night. He is starting to consistentley wake up at 6:30 am now as well so mom can say goodbye before leaving for work! The best part is that mom and dad now take turns getting up in the middle of the night as we are now to all bottles - it's a nice break - granted everyone wakes up as the crib in our bedroom, but it's nice to not have to get out of bed!
