It's a BOY!!!

Gavin Thomas Backstrom

After so much waiting and anticipation, the day (Feb 3) finally came and we welcomed the final member of our family - a boy - Gavin Thomas Backstrom.

February 3rd - Baby scheduled for delivery at noon

Mom and Dad - Are we ready???? A few nerves for mom as baby was coming a little early at 37 weeks.

He's Here!!
Daddy made official announcement "It's a BOY!"
Mom, as usual, started crying - there is just something about meeting that little baby you have been carrying for so long and hearing their cry..... :)

6 lbs 15.8 oz - Just shy of 7 pounds and lots of hair

Skin to Skin with mom

Proud Papa

Baby Gavin was healthy and looked great but was just struggling to breathe a little bit.  After a little time in the recovery room with dad and mom, Gavin was taken to the NICU just for observation.  Mom was able to feed him there a couple hours later as well as that night.  At 10pm he was able to join mom up in her room!!!

Dad brought Sam and Ava to see mom and baby in the morning as they had not been able to see him yet the previous day as he was in the NICU.  They were excited to meet him and hold him and kept saying "He's so cute!"

As our anesthesiologist said, mom and dad have officially gone from Man-to-Man Defense to Zone Defense.

Mom spent two nights at the hospital and enjoyed lots of quiet time with Gavin. He has started out as a pretty mellow happy baby.

Mom had him stay in the nursery the second night to try to catch up on a little sleep although I know it will be a few sleep-deprived months ahead!

We also had visitors - Grandma and Papa, Uncle Robert and Aunt Brooke with Ezra and Evelyn, Aunt Sara, Glen and Lanie, Sarah Wolfe and Renae.

Mom and Gavin's first selfe  #Whoneedsleep??

Heading home from the hospital

Such an amazing week welcoming our third child and feeling so blessed and grateful for a healthy baby boy.  This is the last little one for us so trying to soak it all in and treasure every moment!
